History teaching is always diverse and complex, but even more so in conflict areas like Cyprus, Israel/Palestine or Northern Ireland. The existing divide in Cyprus has perpetuated a more monolithic, monoperspective view of the history of the island and the conflict. The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research hopes that the unique project to build a Home for Cooperation on the buffer zone will help alter this approach and stimulate innovative methods of learning and new ways of thinking. To kick-start the new era of cooperation, for just a few hours, the AHDR converted the UN-staffed buffer zone into a barbeque party for friends and supporters, aided by food on the grill and an underlying message of Love and Peace.
